How To Use Categories

Categories organize your tasks
Categories are used to identify similar or related tasks. You can do sorting and filtering based on Category. In the Basic (free) version of ReddUpNowTM, you can define up to 11 Categories. The Category itself is a 1 to 10-character code. You also enter a description for each Category.

Once created, you can edit the Category code, description or change the order by using the "Settings" button at the top of the home page.

Each Task is assigned to a Category
When you create a Task, you assign it a Category from a drop-down list of available Categories. If you change your mind later, you can update the Task with a new Category.

Here are some examples:

Simple, One-Category "Catch All."
If you're not sure how you might categorize your Tasks, you may want to start with just a single one, for example "GENERAL" or "MISC":
Category CodeCategory Description
GENERALCatch-all or uncategorized

Rental Property Owner or Maintenance Person
Perhaps you own several investment rental properties. Maintenance issues can become a nightmare. You could create a category for each property in your portfolio so you can track outstanding issues:
Category CodeCategory Description
123 Main123 Main Street
96 Elm96 Elm Street
1606 McFar1606 McFarland Road
Etc.

Organizing Household Chores
Can't get the kids to remember to clean their room? Did your spouse "forget" to clear out the gutters this past Saturday? Planning to paint the outdoors this spring? Record and keep track of all those tasks here.

You can monitor each assignee's progress and send them email or text reminders if things don't get done. You can also be notified when tasks are complete, so you can approve the work and move it off the list.
